Our mission is based on the long term philosophy of helping Emergency Departments deliver the best possible care to all patients. Emergency Departments around the world operate under the strain of complex workloads and clinical uncertainty. This arises because the mission goals of Emergency Physicians are unique to any area of modern medicine - to see and treat “anyone, anywhere, anytime”. The researchers at ACAFE have identified key strategic quality issues facing Emergency Departments in the next two decades.

- Communication within the Emergency Department and between different points of care.
We believe that part of the solution for dealing with these strategic issues is to implement a standardized, physician designed, electronic interface with electronic decision support based on current evidence based or consensus guidelines. Bringing “best practice” to the bedside is at the heart of our philosophy and by implementing this we hope to add value to patients and to the health care of the public at large. ACAFE represents the first prototype in our plan to build a comprehensive electronic health record for the emergency department. |
