Electronic interface – Personal and clinical information collected for the asthma electronic interface will be stored on a secure database linked to the interface with access granted to investigators and system administrators only. The clinical record of the patient encounter will be printed after completion of the patient encounter in the emergency department and included in the patient medical records. Thereafter clinical data saved will be stored on the secure database. See asthma clinical assessment form for further information.

Chart audit – The before and after audit will be conducted on eligible charts over 6 month period before implementation and six months after implementation. Standard data collection forms will be used for the chart audit. No identifying details will be used for data collection and identifying information will not be used for data analysis or publication. Data collected will be stored in an excel file and will be password enabled.
