In 2005, the Australian
Electrical and Electronic manufacturers association (AEEMA)
identified the following problems in response to the Australian
Productivity Commission Report on the Impact of IT on the health
industry:
1. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions provide
benefit to patient outcome but are a long way off from being
implemented to their full potential.
2. Lack of interoperability impedes clinical
outcome and return on investment.
3. Interoperability is impeded by a lack of
unifying medical records identifier.
4. In significant cases, patients move faster
than the information
5. Currently ICT solutions do not match
clinical and business requirements regarding health information and
communication and therefore do not support the practice of health as
a team concept. |
