Original research, product development and health informatics research and development |
Designed and developed the technology behind ACAFE: Clinical Decision Support System, Automated Discharge Summary and Patient Treatment File management. Current live demo available at http://health.ostechnology.com.au/acafe and released under GPL v2 license.
The system developed allowed doctors to streamline their discharge summary while improving documentation and adherence to clinical guidelines. Furthermore, the product was an emergency department first going through rigorous research study testing, randomized trial and observation studies (similar to pharmaceutical testing).

Joint nationwide research projects and analysis, data collection, statistical analysis, data warehousing, privacy and compliance.

Developed the survey and implemented the data warehousing behind the first Australian National Emergency Department IT survey. This study involved the survey of certified Emergency Departments in Australia in cooperation with clinicians from SSWAHS. There was considerable emphasis on data security and confidentiality. This involved undertaking data modeling for user interface workflow and secure database storage capabilities.
Developed surveys and organized data warehousing for several other research projects for clinicians at RPAH, The Canterbury Hospital and Concord Hospital, many of which have gone on to be presented at international conferences or published in leading medical journals.

Rapid implementation of content management system for the use in Australia-wide hospitals and health institutions. This allowed state government hospitals in NSW, Vic, Qld, NT, WA, SA and TAS access their own individual personalized content for staff and users to access while integrating within existing clinical systems or interfaces.
The project enabled HCN to leverage off its core search technology platform and provide integrated solutions for customers across Australia. We also completed quality assurance work which meant flawless implementation and a system which HCN could extend to various other sectors.

Primary Health Care Limited provides a comprehensive range of services and facilities to general practitioners, specialists and other health care providers who conduct their own practices and businesses at its medical centres, licensed day surgeries, specialist and dental clinics.

Clinical web application system for the management of network traffic and content management |
Provided consultation for the use of various web content management systems. Project led on to integration of existing portal systems into Primary Healthcare products. Provided infrastructure consultation and web network traffic analysis capabilities for integration into existing portal servers and hospital sites. |

Development of security and encryption module add-on system for Open Window’s Enterprise Contract Management Software for compliance with corporate governance, new information security legislation and content privacy. Our solution allowed Open Windows to extend their existing platform to provide clients robust security implementation and security portal.

Several state health departments access online medical journals and textbooks, through HCN’s Unified Search Environment (USE) software, which enables users to employ a simple search engine to sift through various data sources.
USE enables HCN’s collection of online commercial health databases The USE software can search multiple health databases from multiple vendors in one search, adding significant value to the resources currently available.

Quality assurance and regression testing of the USE platform to ensure updates and customizations provide accurate and relevant search results.

PDF conversion of leading clinical practice guidelines for paediatrics to online web edition. The importance of this resource was the access of knowledge management and evidence based research at the point of care throughout Australian hospitals and registered clinical institutions.
The online web edition complemented HCN’s knowledge based management resources which were being web enabled for remote access across Australia.
